As a woman over 50, I never imagined the doors of opportunity God would open for me. He took me from my position as a critical care nurse, through ovarian cancer, to becoming the author of In Her Shoes: Dancing in the Shadow of Cancer.
I realized that God is able to weave the difficulties of life into a beautiful tapestry. Paul tells us in Romans 8:28, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
Change is inevitable, but what we do in the midst of change is opportunity.
I’m one of 27 women over 50 years-old who share our stories in We May be Done But We’re Not Finished, a book authored and compiled by Deb DeArmond.
With candidness and humor, we share our challenges, and how God, in his faithfulness, opened our eyes to new dreams and purposes for our lives.
Some of the topics included are:
Caring for aging parents
Late-in-life career
Health crisis
Going back to school
Divorce
Retirement
Widowhood
