Grab Your Life Preserver and Hold On!
Today we celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day.
Nearly 10 years ago ovarian cancer plunged me into its murky sea. Sometimes I felt like I was drowning. Choking, sputtering, I struggled to lift my head above the waters of cancer and chemotherapy. Breathe, breathe. But once again, waves of fear pummeled me as the side effects of chemotherapy buffeted my body.
Eventually my treatments ended, leaving me exhausted and battered, but alive. I had survived. God preserved my life.
Today, we honor the survivors. Some of us are cancer-free. Others are battling this disease or struggling with lingering side effects. Whatever our circumstances, let us grab hold of our life preservers and hang on as we celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day.
